My cd burner seems to need cleaning.  The cds are sounding scratchy .  I
don't know what the right thing to do would be. I have wiped with a cotton
ball and alcohol all I could reach.  It just doesn't seem to be enough.
Please help.
Thanks bamamom35

If you insist on cleaning your CD burner use a specific CD lens cleaner,
nothing else.

If you were to play your CD on somebody else's player/burner, does the same
thing happen ? If so, see n°1 below. If not, then make sure you have all the
latest sound drivers for whatever sound card you have.

Steps to take if soundcard/drivers are up to date :

1)    Check out the files that you're recording - any parasites (crackles,
pops etc). If so, download Audacity and use its plugins to tidy up the
track(s).

2)    Make sure you are doing NOTHING else whilst burning. Disconnect froom
the Internet, turn off your anti-virus, stop anyother programmes you may
have / may want running in the background.

3)    De-fragment your HD is necessary.

Cheers,
Jerry
