In addition, what I was trying to tell you that the files may be protected.
You'll have to burn them to an Audio CD and re-rip as unprotected files.

I re-checked your links but you're still putting an emphasis on burning. I
have no problem burning, and as I said, the CDs in question (as well as the
many others that have been ripped successfully) are all pre-recorded. And
it's not a protection issue because I can rip them on my other PC. The CDs
just aren't recognised in any way or form. After a long attempt to read, it
finally stops and any attempt to view via Windows Explorer only causes the
drive to make another attempt to read the disk.
