When I click on the Volume control in the tray I get a volume control on my
taskbar but no sign of the program on the screen.  I can right click on the
volume control in the taskbar and select "move" and the thick icon appears in
the top left corner of my screen but i cant drag the program down.  It does
not seem to be anywhere.

Where has it gone and how do i get it back?

Thanks for your help.

Double click on the loudspeaker icon, then you get the mixer controls.
