Got a home PC (XP) and a notebook (XP) connected via a Linksys router
to a cable modem. All was fine. Come home this week, plug in and both
comps can access the internet and Ping each other but can`t see each
other on the network. Changes on notebook was to uninstall Zone Alarm
Pro trial and on the home PC install the latest windows updates, a lot
of which were security updates. Anybody any ideas please.

Regards,
Mal

Funny thing, I was experiencing a similar problem with my
home network and I found that the problem was my firewall
disallowing NetBios Browsing, your best bet is to
configure your firewall to allow incomming transmisions
on UDP port 137, or make your computers firewall "trust"
your other computers IP address. This will allow you to
see your other computer when going into your "My Network
Places" folder. If this doesnt help, or you need
instructions on configuring your firewall feel free to e-
mail at prairiepimp@hotmail.com

Hope I helped,
~ Mitch
