I have several XP Pro machines as clients on Netware
4.11.  They are very slow to open files on the server
shared drives on the first request. Once you have opened
one file, you can move about the network drives just
fine.  This happens each time you first try to access the
network.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  I applied
the fix found on Microsoft KB and edited the registry per
the instructions and it made no difference in the response
time.

newest NetWare client 4.9 SP1a.  I also found that I
needed to deselect the network option in my Norton
Antivirus Corporate Edition 8.0 client.  This solution
worked for my desktop units but not my laptop units.  On
my laptops I had to go to the Client Services for NetWare
that comes with Windows XP pro.  This option has also
caused me headaches because I cannot get a batch file
called from my NetWare login script to run through  Client
Services for NetWare client on my laptops.
