'error clearing the ARP cache' I can perform some tasks like; windows
update,
send/retrieve outlook mail but I can't access the internet. Tried
firefox browse as well.
PS: If anyone cares, I'll send you a Gmail (google mail) invite

It sounds like your winsock is corrupted.
Try to paste this link into your windows explorer (since
IE doesn't work) and download the repair tool for windows
XP. If you can't get to the internet then have a friend
download it for you.
Good luck !

Thanks JR
but what link? I don't see one in your reply. Maybe the forum
removed it?
You can try emailing it to me at danny.palmer@gmail.com
I do have another computer I can get the the internet with.
I go to the microsoft site and search under xp for some sort of repair
tool as you mention.
Thanks again

JR!
I was able to find the fix you mentioned by searching through google
under 'winsock fix'.
I applied the winsock fix and everything works perfect now!
Thanks!
