WinXP clients logging to Win2003 Domain Controller

Several of me Xp clients get a message saying that windows couldn't find find
the domain controller. After several attepts (2 - 8 tries), they will finally
logon to the 2003 domain. why?

How are your DNS settings?  The clients should be looking only at the DNS
server on the domain, and the domain should be set to forward outside DNS
requests to your ISP or other outside DNS server.
