Can't Alter Files Over Network

Hi

I have an issue with a small network. I can see all the
computers on the network. All computers can open each
others files as required. The problem is the XP Pro
computer can only open files from other computers, but
can't save any changes made to the Word/Excel file.

All Sharing is setup as per a normal network, which I've
never had trouble with in the past. Allow others to
change my files is checked. It works from two other
computers running Win98, but this XP machine won't save
files to the others, can only open them.

The message that comes up when trying to save is that the
file is password protected (its not) or there is a / or \
in the filename (there isn't).

Now I'm kind of stuck for a solution.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I forgot to add, this hadn't been a problem until today.
They have been using the network with no problems for
about a week and a half, changing files etc etc. Just
today it stopped being able to alter files.

Thanks
