Hi everyone, this is the first time im submitting a post to this forum.
Seems pritty good so i hope someone can sort me out.
Basically im at uni now and they have this stupid policy of not
allowing peer to peer uploading and downloading programs. Im trying to
find a way around this and so far have had no luck.
The system thats in place is i am conected to the internet constantly
via an ethernet port but whenever i need to use the internet, lets say
for browsing. It asks for a user name and password. I have these and
can connect to the internet through programs like mozilla and ie6 but
when i try to use programs like kazaa light ++++, bit tornado and
limewire it doesnt connect. Would be really cool if that user name and
password screen popped up but it doesnt.
All i know is that it uses a Http proxy on port 8080 and it uses the
same proxy setting for all protocals. Thats it really.
I also cant connect to msn messenger 7.5. Before i moved to uni
everything was working so i know there isnt a problem with my system or
any of my programs.
Please please please can someone help me, the only way i can think off
getting round this is if theres a program that logs on to the internet
and shares the internet connection with the password details with all
the programs on the pc. Im not sure if something like that exists so if
anyone can help me it would be very much apreciated.
I thank you in advance for your help.

Call the Uni Network Admin and tell him he has a, as you put it, stupid
policy. Maybe he'll help you out.
I think it is even more stupid to think that anyone here would help you
bypass a Univerity IT Security Policy. The policy is in place to protect
Uni systems, students and staff from malware and virus.

If you don't like your university's policy, then you should get your own
Internet connection that provides the kind of service that you need.
If you think circumventing your university's policy is a good idea, then you
should also understand the consequences of doing so. They don't enact those
policies without reason.

So take a year off, and use that time to grow up and get some respect
for authority. Maybe join the army.
