My computer won't connect to a home network.  Message "cable unplugged" comes
up buy cable is plugged in.  I have reinstalled the driver.  Any advice as to
what the problem is here and how I can solve this?

Could be a bad cable, a bad network card, or a defective port on the
hub/router you're plugging into.
