Chuck,
Do you have any clues from my ipconfig files posted yesterday (home network
problems). By checking and rechecking everything, I can ping my computers
both ways. But still if trying to connect to A (W2K) from B (XP) a dialog box
pops up asking for a password. I have never had passwords set on any of the
computers. Is a password required on XP?
Here are updated ip files.

I have solved my problem. I am very sorry for bothering everybody. It has
never occurred to me that one has to type the user name into the popping
dialog box even if no password was set. Everything seems to work just fine.
Also, many thanks for your help and your time spent on my stupid problem.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
