I have a network of 2 computers, on of which is a laptop, the other a
desktop.  I use briefcase to synchronize the laptop to the desktop.  I
generally use Wordperfect but also use Word.  However, any new document
generated on the desktop, no matter the software, cannot be opened on the
laptop.  The first error is that the document is read only or in use (never
the case).  I am told that I may open the document but have to save it with a
different name.  I say ok and get the error that access is denied and I do
not have the rights to access the file.  The only way to change that is to go
to the desktop, change the sharing and security option on the folder to non
sharing and then to change it back (including the option to allow changes).  
When synchonizing with briefcase, access is also denied until I take the step
above.
