XP network and guest sign-in

I have a 2 computer XP pro network thru a westell router. I had no access
from the //downstairs computer to the //upstairs computer, but ok vice versa.
Got the "//upstairs is not accessible' message. Went thru the trouble
shooter malke posted and changed a few things. Now when trying to get to
//upstairs thru network places I get a logon box for //upstairs/guest asking
for a password. User accounts for //upstairs says the guest account is
turned off. Help for 'guest' comes up with user accounts but no mention of a
network logon like this.

Any ideas?

The setting in for Guest in User Accounts doesn't affect network
access. It determines whether you can log in as Guest at the local
keyboard..

These commands enable or disable the Guest account for network access:

net user guest /active:yes
net user guest /active:no

Make sure that there's no network password for the Guest account:

1. Click Start | Run.
2. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
3. Click Guest.
4. Click Reset Password.
5. Click OK without entering a new password.
