Very long delay at logon to domain

I have a new computer that I'm adding to my network domain (we currently have
20 others), but so far when I log on using domain credentials it takes a very
long time to apply personal settings and get to the desktop.  It can take
more than 20 minutes or longer to accomplish this.

I can, however, log on to the machine with a local user account very
rapidly.  I can see network resources and map them fine (I was successful
joining the domain.)  But, alas, I can't logon through domain credentials.

Any ideas?

Most such problems are down-to inability to locate the domain controller.
Check the network settings, especially DNS, are the same as other computers.

Also check http://mylogon.net/support/psave/ as this can interfere with
(roaming) profile loading.

Maybe is some problem about your DNS. DNS can not resolve your dc.
another problem maybe your computer network setting is not correct. Must use
automatic obtain IP address.

I am having the same problem and I think the problem coming form DNS.  This
is mostly caused by the asyncronous loading of networking during the boot up
process and/or DNS.  This speeds up the login process in a stand-alone
workstation by allowing the user to log in with cached logon credentials
before the network is fully ready.
To disable this "feature" and restore your domain logons to their normal
speed, open the MMC and add the group policy snap-in.  Under Computer
Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->System-->Logon, change "Always
wait for the network at computer startup and logon" to ENABLED.

I also tried static and dynamic ip setting on both server and client at the
same time and it did not work.  My server's dns settings are the same as the
clients, is this correct you think?

Thanks,
B

Thank you for the tip. This post have more details.

Logon slow or access network slowI would keep "Always wait for the network
at computer startup and login" is disabled and work on the slow logon. Do
you have any issues with DNS? ...
