27-Sep-07 / Net access problem via LAN
My friend has a Compaq M2037 AP portable with always some problem or other.
Win XP Pro SP2, plenty space & memory. Works OK.
Browsers: I/E6 and Mozilla FireFox
The PC can access the Net independently via slow DialUp connection and it
networks ok on our small LAN. Some months ago, I remember it worked ok and
accessed the Net via our LAN ok, just like any of the other PC's on the LAN.
However, now it won't do so via I/E6.
When we run I/E6 on it, it always comes up w/ the DialUp acct window. It
doesn't go on the Net immediately like the other PC's, via our LAN and router
and via the much higher speed SP acct on our telephone line.
However, when we run Fireffox, it goes immediately onto the net, just like
the other computers on the LAN (not via DialUp).
I suspect someone may have changed some I/E 6 settings but I wouldn't know
what they might be.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Nak

OK. That did it! I guess you meant Tools, Internet Options, Connections.
Hope you're around when my next problem pops up -
usually eavery day...
Thanks again a million!
