I have just attempted to set up a home network and found that my laptop has
no shared documents folder. Can I recreate the folder without having to do a
full restore? The laptop works fine in all other respects running office and
3rd party applications. Just no Shared Documents folder.

Run the Network Setup Wizard, which will create the Shared Documents
folder.

Thank you Steve, however running the wizard doesn't create the shared
documents folder. In My Computer there is a "Documents" folder but when I
click on it get the following message ... c:\documents and settings\all
users\documents is not accessable. Access Denied. I am logged on as
administrator.

You're welcome, Ian.  Do a web search for "shared documents access
denied".  It will give numerous pages with the solution to this
problem, including:

You receive an "Access is denied" error message when you try to access
