Hello all i was wondering if some one could assist me in why i cant
get my laptop and pc to work on a network,

I've followed the networking wizard, and seem to have the network set
up, but this is what happening.

the Laptop is setup on a workgroup "HOME" and my laptop is called
DANLAPTOP

I have the shared folders shared and some other folders in "My
Documents"

I ran the the wizard on the Computer as detailed in the steps using
the the xp disk,

the computer is also on the workgroup "HOME" and Computer is Called
DANPC

When i go into my networks view work group computers via my PC I can
see DANLAPTOP and DANPC

I can access the DANLAPTOP and all the shared folders, Great i
thought,

But when i go via my Laptop and can also see DANLAPTOP and DANPC  But
it wont let me access my DANPC and im promted with the following error
message?

\\DANPC is not accessible, you might not have permission to use this
network resource?

Can some one point me out in the right direction?

Thanks

Danny

Hi
May be this can Help.
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.

Danny,

What editions of Windows XP (??) are you using (each computer please), and how
is file sharing permissioned?
# XP Pro with Advanced File Sharing,
# XP Pro with Simple File Sharing,
# XP Home (with SFS only)?

The access denied type error can have many causes, besides just file sharing
authentication.  A common one is a personal firewall.

And if you're using SFS, restrictanonymous is a known cause for your problem.
