The following item is in my Msconfig Startup:
%systemroot%\\system32\\dumprep 0 -u

I have done a Google search (including Groups) and could only find reference
to "-k".  No problems noticed.  Could someone please explain the "-u" entry,
it's meaning and need??

Below found on Google:

KernalFaultCheck:
%systemroot%\\system32\\dumprep 0 -k
Dumprep.exe = Windows Error Reporting Dump Reporting Tool

Many of thanks,

Hi,

-k is a kernel fault check
-u is a user fault check

Generally the latter is seen when a user changes the default options in the
startup and recovery settings to a small memory dump.

Thank you, Mr. Rogers.   Since posting, I have been able to find out more
about the tool and its' purpose.  I did turn off the power to my cpu while
it was in the BIOS process while troubleshooting a USB conflict that was
delaying the system boot.  I am assuming that this may have generated the
entry.  The file <dumprep 0 -u> does not exist in the System32
folder.....so, is it proper/prudent to leave the startup entry in MSconfig?
I have seen conflicting info on this.....therefore, my trust is in the
knowledge of the MS-MVP's, like yourself.   Your time and effort is greatly
appreciated.

P.S.  Joan.....yep, learning the intricacies
of this new box & XP. Having built this,
you would think I would know more, lol.

Hi,

You can remove it, it's usually just a one shot deal unless you are having
repeated problems.
