Richard Urban - 22 Sep 2006 01:10 GMT If you run the LCD monitor in analog mode (most people do), the monitor will self adjust from the bios startup resolution (which is something rather low) to your final desktop resolution. You do not want to prevent this from happening or your desktop image will be messed up.
Now, if you have your monitor connected to a video card that has digital output, are using a digital cable between the card and the monitor, and the monitor is set for digital operation (it had better be) - none of this will happen. Everything just works as it should, without any adjustments at all (except for color, contrast, brightness etc.).

Richard Urban - 23 Sep 2006 13:16 GMT Using the "monitor" controls, reset the color settings to default. Then you can start anew to make custom changes.

Trying to re-install ViewSonic software and drivers, for some reason installation shuts down Explorer has something to do with DEP. Beyond my abilities. All the problems started with doing sfc scannow hoping to correct the defrag program from not running. Really a bad day.

Richard Urban - 23 Sep 2006 18:34 GMT > Using Viewsonic VX910 LCD don't have default setting. Sorry! I find it impossible to believe that Viewsonic does not give you a way to revert back to a standard setting. I have had 5 different Viewsonic monitors and they have all had this feature. It may be called something else, so search for it in the setup program.
Read your manual.

Richard Urban - 23 Sep 2006 21:23 GMT I am presently using a Samsung 930B LCD monitor in digital mode. I can revert the colors, contrast and brightness to factory default. It is called reset in Samsung language.
Check your manual.

SD - 24 Sep 2006 22:00 GMT Richard Urban, Just a point of information and thanks for your reply. Turns out after doing a sfc scannow, maybe a coincidence, the monitor went bad, tried another LCD monitor of the same brand, ViewSonic and it worked fine. Dont know why that happened. All my equipment is surge protected and I didn't have any bad weather around here. Guess I'm in the market for a new monitor. Not something I am looking forward to.

SD - 25 Sep 2006 21:29 GMT Talked to viewsonic tech support to find out if it could be repaired. Tech support informed me it was out of warranty, cheaper to buy a new monitor, repair over 350.00.

I remember in the 1960's when I repaired anything that went wrong with T.V.'s, down to the component level. It was nothing to replace a transistor, diode, cap, tuner etc "in the customers home". (-:

Even a upgrade with trade in would have been acceptable. You accumulate equipment with no disposal capabilities.
