Windows Update has automatically downloaded and installed KB925486.  I have
tried to find out what this was about but there is no trace of it at
Microsoft, or indeed from googling.

I am now a bit suspicious of this download, especially as it was not the
usual time for Microsoft updates.

Can anyone please tell me what's happening?

Thanks.

This emergency patch resolves a vulnerability in VML that could allow
remote code execution. All Windows users should apply this patch. See
this TechNet security bulletin for details:

Note: there is a link to a more "end user friendly" webpage if you want
something less technical.
