I've been having many problems with the latest version of System
Mechanic Pro (including Kaspersky AV).  Is anyone else using it, without
problems?

TIA

Why not deep-six the 3rd party junk & perform the same simple
tasks yourself.......

Thanks for the help - not.  Why do you waste your time posting such dribble.

It appears that you don't know sh*t about this particular subject,
since you were unable to cite either the 'simple tasks' or how to
perform them.

Yes. I finally deleted it and got Norton System works  . Norton had an
offer to discount $30. with proof of any recent purchase of similar
program.

Thanks.

Norton Utilities was the first set of system utilities developed for the
original (IBM) PC.  I used them, followed by System Works, from day 1,
with no problems.

However, I have read of many people having problems with Norton.  IMO
that is/was because of either the particular computer or the user or both.

The key for me for Norton, and for most utility software, is to disable
all automatic functions.  Then it can't get itself into any trouble.

As for System Mechanic, I've been looking at the software, and Iolo,
very closely, because IMO it looks to me like the greatest software
fraud committed in the nearly 50 years I've been computing (Bendix G-15,
G20 in 1957).

Having beta tested software (Visi-Calc, the first spreadsheet for Apple
II), when you were paid to beta test, I've been beta testing System
Mechanic.  I'm developing a set of screen shots that show what appears
to be an attempt to deceive, such as processes that run for hours, and
then accomplish nothing, online technical support that is outrageous,
and the falaicious (sp) argument that since they give you a trial
period, if it doesn't work, tough luck.  No refunds.

Thanks again.

I would rather not use any of Norton's programs {except Partition Magic and
Ghost} as it is very heavy on CPU and memory usage. I go back a long time
with Norton products but I have found that there are many (and free)
programs that do better with smaller footprints. I don't like too many
programs taking up space and CPU time while I am running useful programs.

But everyone has his won methodology with computers.

Good luck and regards,

You would do well to remove System Mechanic from your system.. programs of
this type promise a great deal, and more often than not fail to live up to
claims made..

I use System Mechanic with no problems. While Kaspersky is considered a good
program I found it in conflict with a number of programs and I removed it.
Now Iolo's program works fine and is a staple of my cleaning program.
