To answer your specific question:
(#1.) Create a folder called anything EXCEPT "My Favorites" or
"Favorites"
(#2.) Navigate to the location of Favorites:
(#3.) C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR NAME"\Favorites
(#4.) Open "Favorites"
(#5.) Copy the contents of "Favorites" to the folder created in (#1.)
(#6.) Copy the contents of the folder created in (#1.) to your favorite
removable media
Alternatively, use the FAST Wizard (Files And Settings Transfer) to
Transfer, as the name implies, your data Files (including Favorites) and
your customized desktop Settings, to your new PC.

You can export the list of favorites to a single HTM file (Netscape style
bookmark file) and then copy the file to new computer. One copied, you can
use teh Import/Export Wizard to import the favorites.
