I had a dual boot system with two hard drives. Windows XP Pro (D:) on
one and Windows XP Home (C:) on the other with a large partition for
all of my important files(E:). I decided to go back to a one OS system.
I have a couple of files and folders on (E:) that I can not open since
the change. Is there anyway to get these files back?

Please help us to help you. What does " I can not open" mean? What happens
when you try? If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

An error box pops up that says E: not accessable.

Exactly how did you go about going back to a "one OS system"? Which XP
version did you get rid of and how? If you got rid of Home, and you sure you
didn't create a new single partition on that drive?

I got rid of home it was on a my 20g drive that is not partitioned and
was the only thing on that drive. Pro is on a 250g drive which is
partitioned to 50g that has the pro on it. I formatted the 20g and then
I reinstalled pro onto the 50g partition.

Then if your data you are trying to locate was on that 20 GB partition and
you formatted it, then poof! it's gone - did you not see the warning about
data loss when you began the format process? I suggest you get a GOOD book
about how computers work and read it. You really shouldn't mess with things
that you don't know about!
(I'm not trying to be sarcy, just to help you retain your data and sanity).

The data is on the large partition on (E:) the only thing on (C:) was
the Home OS

So the E: drive you can't access was the second partition of 200GB on the
same physical drive as Pro?

How did you reinstall Pro? Did you do a clean reinstallation? If so, did you
perhaps tell it to use the entire drive for it?

If you go to Windows Explorer or My Computer, what hard drives are lised
there? Do you see C:, D:, and E: there? If E: is there, is it shown as 200GB
or 2GB?
