A new monitor?

Do I have to resign myself to get a new monitor?
Sometimes my monitor, an old 17'' Spectrum 7Glr,
refuses to light up on booting. One, two, three or
even a dozen rebooting attempts and, to my relief,
it sesuscitates postponing the aggravating
purchase of new equipment. In some circumstances,
when the number of useless bootings has
annihilated all my hopes, I let the monitor "rest"
for two hours or so and voilà it comes back to its
duties.
Does anyone have an explanation or a way to
unravel the problem?

I think the monitor is innocent and it is n't the cause here, you may have
overheated System and you need to change the Cooling system or the Power
supply to your computer.
Try to test and assess your Computer temperature and Power supply
functionalty.
HTH.
Please report back.

It sounds like a probable hardware failure in the monitor itself, though a
failing video card can't be ruled out.   To be certain, it would be best to
try another monitor on your computer or try your monitor with another
computer.

Get a new monitor - at least for testing purposes. One from another computer
will do fine.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be too quick to buy one.

Standard troubleshooting procedure is to try another monitor in its place
and see if you have the same problems. Do you have a friend you can borrow
one from?

It's also useful to try your monitor on a friend's computer.
