You are trying to install IIS on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 -
correct?
You *seem* to be saying you tried the standard method...
Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs --> Add/Remove Windows Components
(button on left side)
And that 'Internet Information Services (IIS)" was not listed there?
Or am I misunderstanding (could be - didn't really make sense the way you
quoted trying) what you are saying?
Media Center Edition *does* come with IIS - to my knowledge.

Thanks for the reply Shenan
Apologies if I didn't make myself clear.
Yes tried the 'normal' method.
selected Windows Installer 3.1
usually change/remove button is displayed
then it is possible to do just that - add or remove compoants
BUT all I get with XPmedia is a link to
http://support.microsoft.co./?id893803
which doesn't help me at all!
used the links form there to download windows installer 3.1
result no change
still get the same link to the same help page instead of a button which will
allow me to install IIS!
[curiously this link presenets a different page to the one I get from my win
2k pro machine!]
