Based on information from other non-MS newsgroups, most folks have found
that the problem goes away. Why? Here is a Microsoft comment:

I would be more concerned about other incompatibilities. Will her printers
and other peripherals have updated drivers? Have you run the Microsoft
provided Window Vista Upgrad Advisor? If not download it here:

or.mspx
Take it's warning seriously. If it says that a device may not work, check
with the manufacturer for an updated driver and download it prior to Vista
upgrade...

Thank You, Chuck, for responding,
I am glad to learn that Vista eliminates the IE7 problem.
My daughter has run the Windows Vista Upgrade advisor
and will need a few upgrades -- more than anticipated.
But she will probably proceed with upgrading to the full version of
Windows Vista Home Premium.
