Hi,

I was planning to use "Repair I.E."  Previously I have gone to START |
CONTROL PANEL | ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS | and selected | INTERNET EXPLORER |
REPAIR.

I cannot find I.E. in Control Panel.  Was this a feature of WIN 98SE only?
In any case how can I "Repair" I.E. in WIN XP SP2?

Thank you.

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

Also you can run this command:
Open Run command and type in:
sfc /scannow  click [OK]
About the Command there is a space between the :
sfc_/scannow ( _ = Space )
Did you scanned in both modes for malwares and Viruses and also run a Disk
CleanUp then Defrag your System.

Internet Explorer may intermittently quit when you close a window in an HTML
application in Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889389/

Internet Explorer 6 stops responding, and you receive an access violation
error message when you try to view a Web page that contains a .jpeg file
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899102

When you visit a Web page that uses a custom pop-up object, Internet
Explorer 6 closes unexpectedly

Thanks nass.

I'll look into your various solutions.
I take it that the method I described *was* available only on WIN 98 SE
SP2?......Happy Days!

Running the sfc /scannow command may replace screwed up files, but sfc.exe
does nothing to reregister those files that it replaces.  Sfc.exe does not
invoke regsvr32.exe.

Try these.

Start | Run | Type:   iexplore /rereg   | Click OK

/rereg should reregister all .dll files used by Internet Explorer.

The iexplore /rereg command only works for Windows XP SP2.

If that doesn't help, try these commands in Start | Run.

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll

If that doesn't help, try this.

Thanks Wes.

I'd like to confirm that these suggestions worked but the d*!?*! problem has
now vanished by itself.....  but I'm saving your post, just in case.....
