I've been using Zone Alarm as my firewall, but it slows down my machine something awful so I'm thinking of dumping it. Does the Windows Firewall work > as well; if so, how best to make the change? The one thing to remember about Windows XP firewall is that it does not filter and block outbound transmissions. It is Microsoft's philosophy that whatever application in the computer makes an outbound send, it is doing so with the user's full knowledge and permission. I use ZA after having dumped McAfee and Symantec at different times from different machines because each of _them_ slowed down performance or otherwise produced malaffects. I have been using Comodo for quite a while and have experienced no problems with it. |
