Pop-ups

I just recently started using XP.

At various times, Microsoft pop-ups (if I'm using the proper term) show up at
the bottom of the screen.

They frequently cover up information that I need. Although I can delete the
pop-up, after a while it becomes very irritating to go through multiple mouse
clicks just to get around MS advertising.

 Is there any way to stop this problem?

Hi Jacl,

It sounds as though you are referring to "balloon tips".  If so, see one of
these.  It requires a Registry hack, but the second item links to a script
to do the edit for you:

I think you're referring to "balloon tips". MVP Doug Knox has written a
tiny script that makes it easy to disable these:
