file is missing or currupt windows\system  32\config\system. the person that
sold me the tower installs the set=up cd, but i  dont get internet explorer,

Running xp pro from a retail version,or did someone install xp with the
tower...
XP home or pro do not need or use a floppy drive to run,a backup disk sounds
good, but with the pc not running properly, how would you make one....A "set-up
cd" or restore cd,are only from oem who mfg the pc....If you need an
installation
cd with xp pro on it,a retail pc shop..If you have an xp pro
cd-retail,install xp cd,
exit the info screen,go to run, type:cmd  In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow

I am sorry to say but that person who sold you that PC is not on the up and up. I would demand a Install CD which by law he has to supply to you with the sale of a computer that has a OS installed on it. Or he has to supply you with a way for you to be able to reformat\repair your computer by yourself

Do not waste your money and go to him for any repair or fix. He has unscrupulously done this fully knowing that you will have to come back to him and he has $$signs in his eyes.
