Just lost my ability to open pages on the internet with Explorer 7.
Diagnostic says "Error attempting to validate the Winsock base providers: 2."
Also says "Not all base service provider entries could be found in the
winsock catalog. A reset is needed."
I searched my computer for "Winsock base providers: 2 and don't find anything.
Google "Winsock" don't tell tell me anything about base providers: 2, but
tells me there should be at least 10 entrys in my Winsock file. (I only find
4) But since I don't know what the "base providers: 2" means, I wonder if
this is a different file, and if so, how can I find it on my computer?
Any assistance will be appreciated.

ok i was getting headaches with this problem too but i just fixed and have to
say that i tried the netsh reset stuff but didnt work then i was going to fix
it by deleting the registry keys but that was too much for me.
one of the option to fix the problem was to do a system restore which didnt
work for me becasue every time i did it said "system restore incomplete" but
then i tried it in SAFE MODE .......how do you this ?? just restart the pc
and click f8 seveal times and chose "safe mode networking" the rest is just
to do a system restore to a date where the network was working and that s it .
if this works for you please write it and let everybody else know .
