ACCESS DENIED

Hi, I hope someone can help me.
I have just changed computers, and the old C: Master drive is now my D:
Slave.
I had all my documents on the old C: drive, but I had nowhere to save them
to to use the transfer wizard, because the transfer wizard would not allow
me to use my DVD writer. I saved the settings to a small USB stick. That was
no problem.
Now I cannot access my documents from the D: drive, as I keep getting told
that access is denied. I have tried sharing the folder, but that is still
not permitted. Does anyone have any idea of how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance
