upon starting my computer when i press delete to enter setup it asks for a
password. i have never setup a password. i have tried every passwor that i
used plus the generic ones like: password, admin etc. can anyone tell me how
to get through this

Someone set a password, the BIOS will not just set one on it's own. You
failed to mention the make/model of PC, if it's a desktop take the side
cover off and look for a BIOS clear jumper or remove the battery for a bit,
if it's a laptop it may require disassembly, some laptops you can't clear at
all.
