How and where is the IDE had drive being attached to the computer? And
what is the make of the IDE hard drive? For example, if it is a Western
Digital IDE HD, then it must be jumpered properly. An alternate way of
obtaining the data is to put the IDE hard disk into an USB enclosure
and connecting that to the computer through the USB port.

A Western digital IDE hd doent use jumper pins if its connected solo on
an IDE cable,it gets one centered if used as master with another IDE device
on same cable...Also,SATA drives get configured somewhat diffrently in the
BIOS,a SATA hd used with an IDE hd would need to be set for this,by default
SATA is set to be run w/o IDE hds, usually youll find these settings in
"advanced"/"integrated peripherals" or similiar...
