...anyone have any ideas on how to save (or at least retrieve) data from an
NTFS partition corrupted during a partition magic 8.01 session?  had a
problem, thanks to a nearby lightning strike, during a conversion process,
and while i have been able to save and move the data from one of the other
partitions affected, this one seems to be inaccessable.  i would greatly
appreciate any and all suggestions.

You need a good uninterruptible battery backup supply.

thank you, cary, but i don't think that the problem has to do with security
settings... i am getting a "corrupted master file table" warning (which
partition magic has labeled a 'critical' warning) which i think is preventing
access to the partition/drive.  the other partitions function, and are error
free, but i think that the surge (as opposed to outage) may have taken place
when the partition was being written to... but, i will try the remedies
suggested, and thank you for your time and knowledge!
