Have recently installed norton ghost 10. Am now experiencing slow shutdown.
Windows requires me to end Smax4PNP and ShellIconHiddenWindow. I own a
Toshiba m40 laptop with xp home. Hive cleanup service is installed. Have had
applications in the past (Zone Alarm, Spyware Doctor) which have caused the
same behaviour. Am happy with ghost. Will not uninstall. Are there any
adjustments that I can make to speed up shutdown and avoid having to manually
end above programs. Last question: will xp eventually adjust to new app and
shutdown correctly. Any help in dealing with this would be appreciated.

gderreck,
"ShellIconHiddenWindow" appears to be a problem related to Musicmatc
10.
Do you have this installed? If so, try an uninstall from Control Pane
and see if your problems stop. Here's the skinny on Smax4pnp 'SMax4PN
error' (http://file.net/process/smax4pnp.exe.html)

Thank you Treeman. Yes I have Musicmatch 10 installed. However the slow
shutdown was not an issue until I installed: Zone Alarm and Spyware
Doctor(which I susequently uninstalled) or Norton Ghost which I intend to
keep. Is there a way to edit the shutdown script to kill ShellIcon and
Smax4PNP before logoff. I have PSKill but I'd rather have windows do the work.
