Ok, I'm I am fairly green when it comes to advanced settings on m
system so go easy on me please.
A few days ago I had a trojan on my system which i have now managed t
delete and the system is working fine when i can get into it. Th
problem I have is upon boot up the system hangs just before the log i
screen. I get the windows xp pro splash screen and then the screen goe
blank. I switch the system off and press F8 and select last know
working configuration for windows and it boots fine. I have bee
searching the messages on your forum to find the same problem but ther
are many variants so I thought I would register and post my own message
Great forum btw.
Anyway back to the problem in hand. I have run reg mechanic and all th
usual ad-aware, spybot, etc but the problem persists. Please help me a
I dont want to keep rebooting in last known config (which in affec
means booting twice every time). I am running a check disk upon nex
boot and I will post up the results as soon as.
In the meantime hopefully someone can help

Easiest fix = Format and ReInstall - backup all important data and SCAN FOR
MALWARE in data files!
Other fixes
1) Run a repair install (
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm )
2) Visit http://housecall.trendmicro.com and get a complete system scan
3) Get some antivirus/antispyware protection and use it
4) "Don't accept candy from strangers!" - this goes for stuff on the web
also!

Download and install OS and application updates/patches, and ditto that
with hardware drivers.
