Once a program is installed on a drive moving the files to another will cause
the program to stop functioning.You can,remove the program from add/remove
programs,then restart computer,back in xp,re-install them.For the 2nd hd,
make sure its formatted as C:,go to run,type:diskmgmt.msc  In msc,format the
drive,or/and L.click on it,go to actions,all,click "make drive active" if
the option
is available..Open system properties,advanced,virtual memory,change button,
L.click on a drive,select "let system manage" click set 2X,do for all,close
out.

To move an installed program to a different drive you need to
uninstall it and then reinstall it.  When you do the reinstall watch
the installation screens carefully and when it asks/tells you where it
is to be installed make certain that it is to the second hard drive,
which would normally have the drive letter D: but it could be
different under Windows XP.

Some programs do insist on being installed on drive C: but these are
fortunately in the minority,

You can usually move data files with no problems, although if you want
to change the location of a designated System Folder such as My
Documents to the second hard drive then you will need to edit the
Registry or use TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

What you do need to do is to become aware of just what is happening
and which disk drive is being used when you install a new program or
save a data file.  Sometimes this requires that you pause a bit, read
all of the information on the screen carefullly, and make sure that
all of the specific details are acceptable and the way you want them.
