Hi,

I'm using a Windows XP SP2 notebook & when it boots up there is a long delay.
After I get the XP Welcome screen & audible, the Wallpaper background comes
up but no Desktop icons and it sits there for 3 minutes with no hard drive
activity & then it finally boots.  It is a new Sony VAIO with a Centrino
processor, 50GB free space, 512RAM.  The AV is up to date, no spyware was
detected, disk cleanup has been done and defrag is not needed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks....

Hi bsbm525
Bootvis may allow you to check out what´s delaying your boot as weel
as permitting a boot optimization.
Download it here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664

I had understood that Bootvis is actually incorporated into WinXP and
runs something like every three days. Nevertheless, I was able to get a
75 second boot down to 45 seconds using Bootvis which shouldn´t happen
if it is truly aleady a part of WinXP.
In any event it won´t hurt to try and may well help a lot.
Paul
