Out of the blue so to speak my start up time is about 2 minutes.Windows XP.
768 Ram. P4 1.8 gh 250 g hard drive.
This is the Error message I get in the Event Center:
Event ID: 7026
Source: Service Control Manager
Version :5
Component: System Event Log
Symbolic Name EVENT_BOOT_SYSTEM_DRIVERS_FAILED
Message: The following boot-start or system-start drivers failed to load: 1%
(i 8042 port)
What drivers? How do I fix it?  (Device Manager tells me all of my device
drivers are ok.

The ( i 8042 port ) is Intel 8042 Port Driver for the PS/2 mouse/keyboard.
Check out the two web sites.
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=102989
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=102990

First I did a search in Google on Event ID:7026 then on i 8042 port and that
is what I found.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. This error entry or Window is nutty. I found one guy who had the same
error and fixed it by switching his ram memory cards. The driver articles
regarding the mouse are technical and don't have anything to do with solving
the problem But identifcation of the driver is important. Maybe I dump the
mouse and driver and it's fixed. We will see . I will let you know. Thanks
for the help.
