After you installed XP Pro, did you go to the Samsung web site
and download the latest hardware drivers for your laptop? Not
having the correct display/video drivers can cause problems
with getting a system to go into standby mode.

Thanks alot.
However, I don't know which one to download.
Should I download all the latest ones?
Someone told me that if I download the wrong ones, my laptop will not work
again, please advice. Cheers

Start by downloading and installing this driver for your video
adapter. See if it fixes your standby issue. If it doesn't, you
might want to contact Samsung's technical support for
assistance with this problem.

FYI, if a video driver you install ever causes problems with
your computer, you can simply boot into Safe Mode and roll back
the driver.
To boot into Safe Mode, do the following:
Restart your computer and start hitting the F8 key.
Keep hitting F8 until you see the Windows Advanced Options
menu.
Once the menu is displayed, use the up arrow key to select Safe
Mode.
Hit Enter.
Log on with an account that is a Computer Administrator.
To roll back a driver, do the following:
Right click My Computer and select Manage from the drop down
menu.
In Computer Management, click on Device Manager in the left
hand column.
In the right hand pane, click on the + sign next to the Display
adapters.
Right click your laptop's display adapter and select Properties
from the menu.
Click on the driver tab in the device's Properties sheet.
Hit the "Roll Back driver" button.
Hit the Yes button when asked if you want to reinstall the
previous drivers.
Restart your computer.
Good luck
