sometimes (not everytime) when i shut down my pc, i get a "c class plugin
error"
& then the microsoft box pops up where its shutting down slowly & i just
click "end now". i try again & the error comes up again, and then i reopen
browser & shut down again & it finally shuts down. everything else is working
fine on pc.any ideas?

try running the system file checker tool, just click your start, run, and
then type in this; sfc /scannow , and that space is included too. Have your
XP CD ready.
