I cannot read or write to DVD R/RW disks because the disks are "full."   On
My Computer the both the disk size and free space show up as 0 bytes.  The CD
R/RW disks work fine.

Downloaded and ran Autofix.exe and reinstalled the driver several times in
an attempt to resolve the problem.  I also registered a case no. with HP
support.  The original techncian was unable to provide a sucessful fix and
passed it up to the next level.  I am waiting for a return call from the next
level.

In the meantime, any suggestions for a possible fix would be greatly
appreciated.

Tried the same thing here. Autofix tells me that it resolved the problem when
it actually didn't. Could this problem have something to do with the speed
rating of the DVD you're using? Mine's 2x.
