xp disk defrag

when I click on the analyze or defragment button, nothing happens.

Any help would be appricated. thanks

For Windows XP with SP2

Click Start, Run and type Services.msc. Double-click "DCOM Server Process
Launcher" service and set it to Automatic. Restart Windows.

More Information:

Analyse and Defrag buttons do nothing.
And the console Defrag.exe tool displays this error:

Windows cannot connect to the Disk Defragmenter engine

To enable Defragmenter's functionality, try this:

Click Start, Run and type Services.msc. Double-click "DCOM Server Process
Launcher" service and set it to Automatic. Restart Windows.
