Hi Angel.

Try System Restore, and if that doesn't fix the problem, try running a
full-system antivirus scan. Good luck, and let us know if its fixed.

Take care,

jamie ;-)

Thanks for repling to my question. I have done a full virus scan, and nothing
has shown up. I've also done a restore and still the same thing. I think I
might have to do a complete recovery.Unless you have any ideas.

Thanks for your reply Paul, but nothing has changed. My computer is just over
a year old. I defragment it and once a week. Am using a registry cleaner
called system mechanic, and I think that may be causing the problems, but a
lot of people I have spoken to swear by it. Do you think registry cleaners
should be used?

Almost certainly way overkill. Hardly anyone's computer needs to be
defragmented anywhere near that often.

I'm not Paul, but I'll throw my two cents in. All such programs should
be avoided like the plague. What it calls "registry errors" are not
really errors, but probably just orphaned, unused entries.

I strongly recommend *against* the routine use of registry cleaners.
Routine cleaning of the registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave
the registry alone and don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what
many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning
software try to convince you of, having unused registry entries
doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Thank you Ken for your reply, so your saying not to use registry cleaners at
all, or not so often, also how often so I need to defragment.

You're welcome. Glad to help..

Not at all. Never.

There's no answer that's right for everyone. It depends on how you use
your computer and it depends on how much you use your computer.

You should defragment your drive when doing so results in a speed up.
Here's what I recommend. Pick some arbitrary interval--for example
once a month. Defragment on that interval a few times, and assess
whether the computer generally feels faster after doing so. If the
answer is yes, defrag more frequently. If the answer is no, defrag
less frequently.

Repeat a few times, and you'll soon settle into a frequency that works
well for you.
