Running Windows XP Pro. When I turn the computer on and click on a program
including Internet Explorer, it sometimes takes as long as 45 seconds before
it responds. Have defragged, cleaned disk and scanned for viruses, no
change.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Natlo.

Open Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) to the Processes tab and set it to
display processes in decreasing order of CPU time. Park Task Manager in
a corner of your monitor.

As soon as you start a program look over at Task Manager and see which
two or three processes are using up most of the CPU's time. When you
begin to see a pattern, post here again and include the two or three
processes which seem to be using the most CPU.
