Thanks Gerry, I already received the hotfix from Microsoft, and with no need to fork over $59 and then hope someone else will decide that yes, you really are entitled to receive that hotfix free of charge.

I did realise you had already got the Hotfix. I just wanted to end your
thread on a more positive note so that others are not dissuaded from
making a call. After having made the call you can refuse to pay but I
don't recall it being suggested at any point that I would have to pay.

I got a special URL from someone in this group from which I was able to
order the hotfix by simply filling out a form, without speaking to
anybody or so much as hunting for my wallet. I'm not so sure I was
entitled to obtain the hotfix this way, but I got it anyway.
Otherwise, I would have to give my credit card number up front and then
hope my explanation of my symptoms convinced Microsoft of the need for
the hotfix so my credit card would not be charged.
