I recently had to reinstall windows after having problems with my pc. Now my
card reader and usb ports do not work. In my disc drives they used to show:
d: e: f: now only d: shows, and if i plug my camera in via usb cable it is
not detected at all or if i put camera memory card in again this is not
detected at all. Would be grateful for any advice.

Windows XP dynamically assigns the next available drive letter to
removable devices. The drive letter assignment is abandoned once you
remove the device. It's not possible to 'reserve' a drive letter for
your device. There are some workarounds, however, if you're technically
inclined.

Did you also install SP1 or SP2?

Did you install all the required drivers for your PC (motherboard,
sound, network etc...)

Serveral digital camera's may require a driver.

Which USB ports are you trying to use?  The "front" mounted USB ports
may have been "disconnected" by accident.
