Windows Update going in circles.
After installing ALL the recommended Windows Update, I go to shut down
and it says there are updates to be installed... I click it and it
attempts to install many of the same updates it already said were
successfully installed.
So where is it flagging this info and how do I clean it up?
Yes, I have been in the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and used the
hack to disable Shut down and install updates, and while this hack
successfully turns off the false notifications, it doesn't deal with the
original issue... that is, that Windows Update ALWAYS thinks it has
updates when it doesn't!!

Open windows explorer and locate this directory:
C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution = Delete all folders in the right pane/window
Run disk clean up then reboot your machine, does it help?
If it doesn't then you need to pay a visit to windows updates and see if
there is (are) any failed updates there flagged or red crossed (X).
HTH.

Thank you, Nass!
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ doesn't contain any files from the Dell
OEM version of Windows on this machine, right? Just Windows Update files?
