Running windows xp service pack 2. USB enhanced controller not installed on
machine. Recently upgraded to boradband and need to install the usb 2.0
driver on pc. Thought I could copy the usbehci.sys, usbhub.sys, usbport.sys,
hccoin.dll, usbui.dll from my xp laptop (connected to broadband) to the xp
pc. Can I upgrade the USB drivers by copying these to files to the drivers
folder and system 32 folder.
Thanks

The final release version of the Microsoft USB 2.0 drivers are included
in Windows XP Service Pack 1. Since you say you have SP 2 you are good
to go.

Does the motherboard on your PC support USB 2.0? If not, you would need to
install an USB 2.0 add-in card.
That said, a far easier solution would be to purchase a router, connect your
modem to the router, and connect your PC to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Get a wireless router and you can take advantage of your laptop's mobility by
installing a wireless adapter if it doesn't have one already.
Good luck
